UFC 229 Schedule, Fight Card

UFC 229 takes place on Saturday, October 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

It is headlined by the return of former two-division UFC champion, Conor McGregor, who will be fighting the undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Nurmagomedov won the vacant lightweight title at UFC 223 in April with a unanimous decision win over late replacement, Al Iaquinta. Nurmagomedov was initially supposed to fight Tony Ferguson for the title on that card before a knee injury caused Ferguson to withdraw.

Prior to that, Nurmagomedov’s undefeated streak includes wins over Edson Barboza, Michael Johnson, and Rafael dos Anjos, to name a few. He made his UFC debut on January 20, 2012.

McGregor, on the other hand, makes his anticipated return to the octagon. His most recent fight in the UFC was winning the lightweight title by stopping former champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 on November 12, 2016. He won the featherweight title by knocking out former long-reigning champion Jose Aldo in 2015.

After defeating Alvarez, McGregor’s last fight was the historic boxing match against Floyd Mayweather on August 26, 2017.

In the co-main event, former interim UFC lightweight champion champion, Tony Ferguson, will fight former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
