AUDIO- MWC expert Geoff Grammer says Runnin Rebels might eclipse expectations for the first time in years

The Albuquerque Journal writer told Cofield & Company that the conference media members may have finally nailed it with their pre-season predictions for Marvin Menzies’ squad.

Grammer has consistently chosen the Rebels for a finish no higher than fourth the last few years while others thought UNLV could win the conference. The Runnin Revels have finished seventh, 10th, sixth and seventh the last four seasons.

Grammer says, “What I like about this UNLV team is they’re picked where they should be picked & there aren’t unrealistic expectations. Being picked sixth is a good position for them and gives them an opportunity to move up and be happy about it.”

He thinks No. 7 Reno should runaway in the conference with a threat that the WolfPack may lose a game vs. San Diego State or New Mexico.

Grammer’s been told to not sleep on new coach Nico Medved and Colorado State. He also likes Boise State to be in the mix even with a depleted squad as compared to previous teams coach Leon Rice has put on the floor.
