VIDEO – Common agrees with Adam Hill, it was time to ban the word ‘owner’ around the NBA

Draymond Green is on board.

So is Adam Hill.

And now Common says he’s pleased with the NBA’s forward thinking.

Multiple NBA teams — and even the NBA league office — have replaced the title with words like “Managing Partner” and “Chairman” over feelings that “owner” is racially insensitive in a league where the majority of the players are black.

So, when we saw Common at Matsuhisa in L.A. on Thursday, we asked if he felt the change is a good thing … or an unnecessary overreaction?

“I’m so pleased,” Common told us … “The term owner — it didn’t sit right with me.”

“The history of what we have and we are as black people in this country … it’s just not really being considerate of the history.”

Green discussed the topic on a recent edition of LeBron James’ The Shop on HBO.

Now in his 22nd year in sports talk radio, Steve Cofield is the voice Las Vegas turns to every afternoon. Whether it’s breaking sports stories or insightful, thought-provoking commentary, Cofield never holds back. “Did you hear what Cofield said?” is a common refrain among sports fans around the West and the leading reason why no other radio group will dare try going local with a sports show from 3-6p PT.
