Are the Maple Leafs the next team to end a painful Stanley Cup drought? Or do you wanna bet VGK to win it all in 2019-20?

The Cup is headed to St. Louis and Nevada sports books are paying the price.

The St. Louis Blues delivered on odds as high as 300-to-1 to shock the hockey world.

But that doesn’t mean the betting stops. SuperBookUSA has already posted the numbers for the 2019-20 season. St. Louis, looking to successfully defend its title, is the sixth choice. The runner-up Bruins are third on the board. Good news for Vegas Golden Knights fans, the Westgate has installed the hometown boys as the second overall choice to win Lord Stanley’s trophy.

The numbers look conservative, right?

Well, Vegas got crushed this year by long shot bettors.

“Bad,” Golden Nugget sportsbook director Tony Miller said of the impact the Blues winning the championship had on the book’s bottom line. “Real bad. Disaster.

“Probably the worst loss we’ve had since Leicester City.”

The Golden Nugget took smaller bets on the Blues’ future, and so did the Westgate. Caesars was the spot hit by let-it-ride bettor Scott Berry.

The Golden Nugget’s exposure mostly came from an accumulation of $20 to $50 bets. A $400 bet on St. Louis at 250-1 — a $100,000 payout — that was placed in January at Paris Las Vegas also led to a difficult day at Caesars Entertainment Corp. sportsbooks.

The Westgate’s number got as high as 300-1, but it only took a $20 bet at that number. The property might have been fortunate in this situation to be more of a local sportsbook.

Toronto was bounced in the first round of the playoffs this year and currently in a 52-year drought for the title, sits in a tie for third on the board.

Colorado, 35-1 to win the championship before last season, is 10-1 for 2019-20.
